Presbyterian Women
Presbyterian Women is an inclusive and caring community of women committed to working toward God”s promise of wholeness for all people. Everything we do as an organization and as a community is guided by our PW Purpose, and that includes ministry, resources and relationships.
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves
to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
to support the mission of the church worldwide,
to work for justice and peace, and
to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.
Anyone who supports the Purpose in any way is participating in Presbyterian Women. So even if you’re just learning about Presbyterian Women, there’s a good chance you’re already supporting Presbyterian Women—in spirit or in action! Won’t you consider joining us in person? Email Diana Drake Behan, HRP PW Moderator for information on HRP PW. diana.pwhrp@gmail.com
Presbyterian Women in HRP are aligned under a shared Purpose, but the gifts of the Spirit allow us to live into the Purpose in our own, unique ways. We are a caring community of women who strive to make a difference in our local and global communities. In HRP we strengthen the ministry of our churches in many areas.
HRP PW supports a mission project supporting women in Singngat, India.
We participate in and support Knitting4Peace by providing knitted and crochet items that are delivered to adults, children, infants and families in areas of global conflict in need of hope, healing and peace. Further information can be found at knitting4peace.org. Peace pals are small dolls that are distributed to children and adults in communities of conflict.
We nuture our faith be sharing in the Horizon (magazine of PW) Bible Study. The Bible Study for this year is: Celebrating the Sabbath: Accepting God’s Gifts of Rest and Delight.
We work for justice and peace by becoming aware and addressing the concerns of racism, human trafficking, violence, advocacy, education, poverty and mass incarceration. We have participated in the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. In recent years we supported Mission trips to Thailand and the Finger Lakes Area of NY.
We have a scholarship fund (Elinor Lange) for seminary students to support their training as ministers.
